A delegation from the NATO mission to Kosovo, KFOR, led by the KFOR Commander, Major General Ozkan Ulutas, paid a visit to the General Staff of the Army today.
During his stay, the KFOR commander had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, which was also attended by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin.
At the meeting, Generals Gjurchinovski and Ulutas discussed the cooperation with KFOR forces regarding the current security risks and threats in the region, the role, activities and tasks performed by our contingent in this mission, our further engagement and increased participation in the mission, as well as other joint activities.
General Ulutash, who is on his first working visit to the Army since taking office in November, stressed the importance of our participation in the mission as a contribution to strengthening regional stability.
Regular meetings between the KFOR Command and the General Staff of the Army, held several times during the year, are particularly important and necessary to maintain security and stability throughout the region.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia directly participates in KFOR with sixty Army members, who perform duties as staff officers at the main command of the mission and with two security platoons at the KFOR Regional Command West.
In addition to our direct participation, since the start of the operation, through the host country’s Support Coordination Center, we have continuously provided logistic support to KFOR forces in customs and border procedures of NATO transports.
