Today, at the Army House in Skopje, a briefing on the combat readiness of the Army for 2025 was given to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. The event was also attended by the Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski and Army generals.
During the briefing, delivered by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, President Siljanovska-Davkova was informed about the completed tasks and the achieved results in 2025 in the areas of personnel, training and exercises, equipment and infrastructure, military planning and force structure, modernization and equipping, as well as budget and finances.
Major General Lafchiski emphasized that the Army is fully prepared to fulfill its constitutional role and mission in defending the country, safeguard the territorial integrity and independence of the homeland, and meet both national and international obligations. These include contributions to collective defense, participation in international operations, and protection of national interests. He added that the Army successfully accomplished all planned and assigned tasks over the past year. The briefing highlighted the high level of readiness of Army personnel, the successful progress of modernization and equipping process, and the important role of Macedonian peacekeepers in strengthening regional security and preserving world peace.
At the very end of his presentation, General Lafchiski emphasized that although the combat readiness of the Army is at the required level, it will continue to be further enhanced. He noted that this is the result of the implementation of the modernization and equipping plan, the ongoing process of training and exercises in the country and abroad, and the fulfillment of the 2025 Capability Targets Package, which represents one of the Army’s top priorities within NATO.
The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Siljanovska-Davkova, stated that the Macedonian Army is one of the most stable and reliable pillars of the state and a significant factor in regional and collective security.
According to the President, strengthened cooperation with NATO allies and successful participation in missions and exercises at home and abroad further confirm the credibility and international reputation of the Macedonian Army.
Minister Misajlovski emphasized that the Ministry remains fully committed to the processes of Army modernization as an investment in the national security and the safety of its citizens.
“With the continuous procurement of new and modern equipment, we are strengthening the combat readiness of the Army and its capacities to guarantee the security of all citizens. We will continue to invest strongly in modernization, as well as in our soldiers, who are one of the key pillars of a modern NATO Army,” the Minister said during the combat readiness briefing.
The combat readiness briefing is a planned annual obligation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Army to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic.
