On 03.10.2015, the Army of Republic of Macedonia participated in the activity of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning “Macedonia without Waste in 2015”. This was planned in order to clean up the landfills in more urban locations throughout the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, as part of the government environmental action “Macedonia without waste in 2015.” The non-governmental organization “Let’s do it Macedonia” as well as other governmental, non-governmental and international organizations took part in this massive action, which was also supported by the European Parliament.
The aim of the action was to clean waste located in inappropriate places in the urban areas and the surroundings, and to raise awareness among citizens about proper waste management.
Army of Republic of Macedonia and the Ministry of Defense were part of the coordinative body of the Government. The following institutions were also part of that body and were involved in the action: Crisis Management Centre, Protection and Rescue Directorate, Ministry of Education and Science, Association of Local Government, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ministry of Health, Youth and Sports Agency.
70 ARM members took part in the central event of the campaign conducted in municipality Gorce Petrov. ARM members also participated in the actions in Kicevo, Prilep and other municipalities.
The organizers of the event thanked ARM for their participation and emphasized the benefits from cooperation with the army.
