The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant-Colonel General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is on a three-day working visit to Estonia, participated today in the regular Conference of the Military Committee (MC) of NATO, which is being held in Tallinn, Estonia.
At the Conference, according to the agenda, under the leadership of the chairman of the MC, Admiral Rob Bauer, in the presence of the Commander of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Christopher Cavoli and the Commander of the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Philippe Lavigne, several topics were discussed related to the military strategic developments within the Alliance.
In one of the sessions, NATO-led missions and operations were discussed, including the NATO operation in Kosovo (KFOR) in which the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia participates with its own contingent.
At the same time, the Chiefs of General Staff referred to the implementation of the decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Madrid, related to NATO’s defence and deterrence policy, as well as to the promotion of diversity and innovation in the allied armed forces, in order to support different domains in performance of operations, as well as for digital transformation.
During his stay in Tallinn, General Gjurchinovski held meetings with the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armies of Italy, France, Norway, Romania, Greece and Bulgaria, where topics of bilateral military cooperation and further activities were discussed.
This is a regular meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of Chiefs of General Staff, which meets twice a year at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, and meets once a year in one of the member countries. The chiefs of the General Staff of the Armies of Finland and Sweden also attended this session, as invited guests for the first time at the Conference.
