Lieutenant General Jovan Andrevski
He was born on January 14, 1942 in the village Turje, Ohrid, the Republic of Macedonia. He has been married to his wife Cara since 1968, and is the father of two children, daughter Biljana (1969) and son Marjan (1972).
He finished his primary education in the village Vrbjani. He graduated from the Engineers NCO School in 1962, and from the Military Academy of the Yugoslav National Army (YNA) Land Forces (KoV) in 1967. He finished the Command and Staff Academy of the YNA Land Forces in 1978.
He was promoted in the rank of Second Lieutenant Engineer in 1967 and in the rank Lieutenant in 1970. In 1972 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and subsequently in the rank of Captain 1 st Class in 1975. In 1979 he was promoted to the rank of Major, and in 1984 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, after which he became Colonel in 1989. Six years later, in 1995, he was promoted to the rank of , and in 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
As a longstanding service officer, previously as a member of the Yugoslav National Army (YNA) and then as an officer of the Army of the Republic Macedonia (ARM), he performed his duty in four garrisons, including: Ohrid (1967-1973), Strumica (1974-1979), Skopje (1979-1995 and 2000-2001) and Kumanovo (1995-2000), executing the following duties:
- Platoon Commander (1967-1972);
- Company Commander (1972-1974);
- Battalion Commander (1974-1978);
- Chief of Engineers in the 168 th Infantry Brigade of the 3 rd Army (1978-1979);
- Deputy Commander of Engineer Regiment (1979-1982);
- Officer in the “Engineer” body in the command of the 3 rd Army (1982-1983);
- Commander of the Engineer Regiment (1983-1988);
- Chief of the Engineer body in the command of the 3 rd Army (1988-1992);
- Chief of the Engineers Staff in the ARM General Staff (1992-1993)
- Commander of the 3 rd Corps of the ARM (1994-1996);
- Commander of the 1 st Corps of the ARM (1996-2000);
- Chief of the ARM General Staff (2000-2001);
- Advisor for Military Affairs to the President of the Republic of Macedonia (2001-2002).
During his career, on many occasion, he received recognitions and awards for his professional commitment and contribution to the development and promotion of the army as an important defense and security factor in the defense of the country, and among other, he was decorated with:
- Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords in 1975;
- Order of the National Army with Silver Star in 1975;
- Order of Military Merit with Golden Swords in 1980;
- Order of Labor with Silver Wreath in 1984;
- Order of the National Army with a Golden Star in 1989.
He retired in May 2002 and currently lives in Skopje with his family.
