
Mission:
Ensures maximum serviceability and reliability of Aviation Materiel (AM), the elimination of major malfunctions and damage that occur during the use of AM. Performs aircraft servicing and supplies spare parts and aviation munitions.
Tasks:
• Within aircraft maintenance, carries out periodic inspections (50-hour PI, 100-hour PI, 200-hour PI), replacement of vital parts, repair and replacement of subassemblies, assemblies, aggregates, and aircraft systems.
• Preservation and storage of non-operational aircraft.
• Ensures the supply of aviation fuels, lubricants, greases, and gases; provides ground power to aircraft; conducts towing to and recovery from take-off and landing surfaces in case of malfunction; and provides runway lighting and guidance.
• Ensures storage, safekeeping, and distribution of aviation munitions, as well as storage, safekeeping, and distribution of spare AM and M.
Major Muhamed Buchi
Major Muhamed Buchi was born on April 25, 1989, in Skopje, the Republic of North Macedonia.
Education
From 2003 to 2007, he attended the Secondary School “Zef Ljuš Marku” in Skopje, and from 2008 to 2013, he studied and graduated from the “Vasil Levski” Military Academy – Air Force Faculty “Georgi Benkovski” in Pleven, Republic of Bulgaria. In 2017, he completed his second cycle of studies at the Air Force Faculty “Georgi Benkovski” in Pleven, earning the title of Master in Aviation Engineering and Technology.
Military Career
He began his military career as an aviation engineer in the Aircraft Technical Maintenance Squadron in 2014. Throughout his career, he has held several commander positions at the flight level. As of July 31, 2025, he has been appointed Commander of the Aircraft Technical Maintenance Squadron.
He is a technical preparation engineer for the Zlin 242L aircraft, Mi-8MT/17 helicopter, Bell-206B3 helicopter, and Mi-24 helicopter.
He has participated in several military exercises both in the country and abroad and has completed multiple courses domestically.
He was awarded the NATO Medal for participation in the peacekeeping mission “eVA” in the Republic of Bulgaria.
He has received multiple awards and commendations. He actively uses the English language.
Major Muhamed Buchi is married and a father of three children.
During his career, he has held the following positions:
- Commander of the 1st Aircraft and Engine Flight in the Aircraft Technical Maintenance Squadron, 2014–2018;
- Commander of the Aircraft Maintenance and Service Flight in the Combat Helicopter Squadron, 2018–2023;
- Commander of the Aircraft Maintenance and Service Flight in the Helicopter Squadron, 2023;
- Commander of the Aircraft Maintenance and Service Flight in the Training Squadron, 2023–2025;
- Commander of the Aircraft Technical Maintenance Squadron, since July 2025.

1992
- The Aircraft Maintenance Unit was established at the very beginning of the existence of the Air Force and Air Defense. It was formed in 1992 as an Air Force Technical Maintenance Company (AFTMCoy) for 2nd and 3rd level maintenance within the Air Force Base.
- Initially, the Air Force Technical Maintenance Unit began operating by maintaining the UTVA 66 and the UTVA 75 aircraft.
1994
- The workload increased with the arrival of the Mi-17 helicopters in 1994.
1996
- Maintenance and servicing of the Zlín 242L aircraft.
2001
- Maintenance and servicing of the Mi-8, Mi-24, UH-1H helicopters, the Su-25 aircraft.
- At the same time, during that period, specialized training courses were conducted for the personnel, enhancing their professional expertise.
2005-2025
- During the transformation in 2005, the Air Force Technical Support Squadron (AFTSSqn) was established, and today the unit bears the name Air Force Technical Maintenance Squadron.
- Cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Protection and Rescue Directorate has been achieved regarding the maintenance and servicing of aircraft.
