1992
- The unit originates from the aviation squadron in accordance with the 1992 organizational structure.
1996
- The first Zlin Z 242L aircraft were procured, enabling the unit to set conditions for the selection and training of new pilots, as well as for maintaining flight proficiency among the Army’s active pilots.
2008
- In 2008, a major transformation and investment in the field of education and training of new pilots were undertaken, based on an analysis conducted by a working group of the Army General Staff regarding the state of military aviation. Through the analysis, the existing and long-term needs of military aviation concerning the required number of pilots were identified. Based on the conclusions, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia decided that the Ministry of Defence, as the institution with the most appropriate capacities, would implement the “Pilot Training Center” project.
2020
- The agreement for the establishment of the Pilot Training Center (PTC) was signed in December 2010.
- The Center is equipped with modern, fully motion simulators featuring a high degree of realism for the Mi-24 “Aleksandar” and Mi-8 /17/171 helicopters. The use of simulators has not only increased flight safety through the practice of the full range of normal and emergency flight procedures, but has also enhanced the overall quality of pilot training.
- For the in-flight selection of candidates, as well as for the three phases of training of future pilots, Zlin Z 242L aircraft and Bell 206 helicopters were available.
2020
- Following the transformation of the Army, this unit was designated as the Training and Exercise Squadron.
