Today at the military barracks “Strasho Pindjur” in Petrovec a celebration was held marking the day of the Air Defence Battery, part of the AF WING.
The celebration was attended by Air Brigade Deputy Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Igorcho Stoimenovski, the Chief of Staff of the AF WING and other representatives of the AF WING Command.
The Commander of the Air Defence Battery, Major Kiril Iliev in his speech emphasized the importance of the unit in defending the Republic of North Macedonia’s air space, and also mentioned the historical background of the unit’s formation.
AF WING Deputy Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Igorcho Stoimenovski also addressed the present audience and in his speech stressed the fact that in further transformation of the Army, the Air Defence Battery remains a vital part of the Army.
Congratulation messages to unit members were read in front of lined-up soldiers and incentives were given.
With a decree by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, September 12 was declared as “Day of the Air Defence Battery”, marking the day when the first ground-to-air missile was launched.
