At the military barracks “Jane Sandanski” in Shtip, there was a duty handover ceremony for the Commander of the Second Infantry Battalion (2nd IBn) within the First Infantry Brigade (1st IBde) who is also the Commander of the military barracks.
The Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski, handed over the military flag of the unit to Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumrachki who is the incoming Commander of the 2nd IBn and at the same time the Commander of the military barracks “Jane Sandanski” in Shtip.
The Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski addressed the present guests and said that it was an honor to be a Commander of a battalion in the Army; however, to be a Commander of the 1st IBn was an accomplishment with added value and privilege. The reason for this is that the Second Infantry Battalion is a declared NATO unit and the first priority is to reach the necessary capabilities.
The incoming Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumrachki thanked the Commander for having been given the trust to be appointed to this responsible position, saying that he will continue to work with dedication. He will focus on training and maintaining the level the battalion has reached, which is NATO recognized capability goals.
There were many distinguished guests at the ceremony including the Chief of Staff of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, retired generals, former commanders of the unit, commanders of the 1st IBde subordinate units, mayors, representatives of the local government in the zone of competence of the unit, representatives of public organizations and other guests.
