The duty handover ceremony of the post Commander of the Artillery Battalion (ArtBn), a unit within the 1st Infantry Brigade (1InBde), took place at barracks “Mirche Acev” in Prilep, in accordance with the virus COVID-19 safety and prevention measures and recommendations. The newly appointed Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Slavcho Kuzmanovski took over the duty from the former commander Lieutenant Colonel Gjorgji Vasilevski.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjuchinovski, the Commander of the Operations Command, Major General Pavle Arsoski, the Commander of the 1InBde, Colonel Besnik Emini, section chiefs of the brigade’s command and commanders of units within 1InBde as well as the mayors of the municipalities Prilep and Novaci.
The Commander of the 1InBde, Colonel Besnik Emini in his speech mentioned all the activities that the unit has accomplished so far and congratulated both the former and the new commander. He also emphasized that: “To be a commander is a great honour, but it is also an obligation especially to a battalion which represents the iron fist of the 1st brigade, and without its support other units of the army will not be able to function”.
The former commander of ArtBn, Lieutenant Colonel Gjorgji Vasilevski thanked the unit’s members for their support during his time as a commander, and the new commander Lieutenant Colonel Slavcho Kuzmanovski expressed his gratitude for the trust that was placed in him as a new commander of ArtBn, and also said that he would perform his duties with utmost professionalism and dedication.
The celebration ended with the ceremonial handover of the military flag between the new and the former commander of the artillery battalion.
The members of the battalion gave the former commander a plaque with the unit’s logo.
