On July 2nd 2019, the military attaché of the United Kingdom, Lieutenant Colonel Andy Leyton, visited the Special Operations Regiment (SOR) in Ilinden Barracks. The visit was paid on the occasion of the forthcoming preparation for the army competition Cambrian Patrol 19 which is organized by the Army of the United Kingdom.
Lieutenant Colonel Andy Leighton met SOR Commander, Brigadier General Metodi Hadzi Janev and Ranger Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Blerim Ismaili. At both occasions initial talks were conducted on the preparation of the army competition “Cambrian Patrol 19”.
A Mobile Training Team (MTT) of the United Kingdom Army will stay in the Rangers Battalion and will conduct joint training with the staff who will participate in the competition in order to familiarize them with the Standard Operating Procedures, techniques and the method of assessment during the competition.
Last year, a team from the Rangers Battalion participated in the army competition “Cambrian Patrol 18” and won the second place in the competition of 138 teams.
