Today, the Chairman of NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach visited the General Staff of the Army as part of his first official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia on an invitation by the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski.
After the anthems of NATO and Republic of North Macedonia and the reception with high military honors by the Chief of General Staff, the Chairman of NATO Military Committee had a meeting with his host.
During the meeting, General Gjurchinovski and Marshal Stuart Peach discussed the current processes the Army goes through before the upcoming full-fledged NATO membership, the support by the highest advisory body in NATO, as well as the forthcoming Military Committee Conference which will be held next week in Brussels.
During the following meeting, the high military officials in the General Staff introduced Stuart Peach and the delegation to the plans for development of the capabilities, the planned common activities in the NATO international exercises, the participation in the peacekeeping missions, as well as to the current transformation process of the commands and units of the Army.
Stuart Peach had words of praise for the efforts until now and the successful transformation process of the Army within the integration process for our full-fledged NATO membership. Furthermore, he pointed out that the upcoming phase for complete integration is expected to be easier regarding our experience and that we can expect a complete support by the NATO command structures at all levels.
General Gjurchinovski pointed out that during the previous year, all commands and units were successful in dealing with the challenges regarding the completion of all priorities for the NATO integration.
During his stay, Marshal Stuart Peach also had a meeting with the Minister of Defence Radmila Shekerinska and visited the NATO Liaison Office where he had a meeting with Colonel Jankovic, and tomorrow he will meet the President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Army, Stevo Pendarovski.
