A commemoration in honor of the fallen members of the Special Forces Battalion “Wolves”, who lost their lives on this day twenty-two years ago in Vejce, was held at the memorial in the “Ilinden” barracks today.
The Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, delegations from the Special Forces Battalion, Army units’ commands, the Ministry of the Interior, and representatives of the families laid fresh flowers in honour of the fallen Robert Petkovski, Boban Trajkovski, Mile Janevski and Igor Kosteski, as a remembrance of lives that were ended too soon.
On behalf of the members of the unit, the commander of the Special Forces Battalion, Lt. Col. Oliver Zarioski, addressed the audience.
In his address, he emphasized that the members of this unit are obliged to guard, maintain and implement the loyalty and honor shown by the fallen colleagues who gave their lives in the service of the motherland.
On this day in 2001, near the village of Vejce, in the vicinity of Tetovo, eight members of the security forces lost their lives, four of them from the Army, and the other four from the Ministry of Interior.
