The Army Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, held a working meeting with the Commander of the European Union Force (EUFOR), Major General László Sticz. General Sticz expressed gratitude for our professional commitment, training and tasks completion in the EUFOR mission.
During the meeting, he introduced the Army Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, to the current security situation in BiH and emphasized that EUFOR supports the institutions for stability and security in the country. In the upcoming period their key task will be the elections held in BiH.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia started participating in the EUFOR “ALTHEA” mission in July 2006 by declaring a helicopter detachment, which was additionally reinforced with a medical team for “ROLE 1” medical support. In 2022, the technical arrangement for cooperation between the Ministries of Defense of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Türkiye commenced, as part of the EUFOR operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Previously the Macedonian contingent was under the mentorship of the Hellenic Republic.
