A “Tactical Combat Casualty Care Course” was held at the Regional Medical Training Department (RMTD) within the Military Medical Center (MMC) from 22 to 30 October, 2025.
The course was organized and conducted with support from instructors of the Armed Forces of the Swiss Confederation, and in addition to members of the Army, participants also included personnel from the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF). At the same time, an “Instructor Course for Automated External Defibrillator” was conducted for instructors from the RMTD, RecceIntelBn and SFBn led by instructors from the Swiss Confederation.
During the activities, on 23 October 2025, a visit was paid by Ambassador Christoph Sommer and his deputy, the Swiss Defense Attaché Colonel Reto Rütsch, as well as the Head of the Education Department at SWISSINT, Lieutenant Colonel Fabrice Dubosson. During the visit, the importance of strengthening ongoing cooperation for the further advancement of medical capabilities in the Balkans was emphasized.
The entire training during the courses took place at the premises of the MMC. In addition to theoretical lectures, practical skill trainings were conducted, simulated and closely resembling real scenarios, as well as a final exercise involving a tactical scenario of a terrorist intrusion into a military facility. The classes were attended by the Head of the Medical Department in J-4/GS, Lieutenant Colonel Irina Blazhevska, who emphasized the usefulness of conducting joint medical courses.
The course participants received an internationally recognized certificate, verified by NAEMT. During the certificate award ceremony, the Commander of the BMTF, Colonel Veljko Milić, expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the ongoing activities of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Armed Forces of the Swiss Confederation in implementing training for the medical personnel of the BMTF.
