The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, who is part of the Macedonian delegation on a working visit to Hungary, held a meeting today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces, General Gábor Böröndi.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the existing cooperation between the two armies, primarily within the framework of jointly conducted training and exercises, as well as the possibilities for further deepening this cooperation, including in the field of the defence industry.
Within the scope of the meeting, particular attention was devoted to cooperation in the domain of special forces, which has significantly intensified in the recent period. In this regard, the exercise “Operation Cold Peak 25” was highlighted, which this year was conducted simultaneously at military training areas on Macedonian and Hungarian territory, with the aim of improving interoperability in mountain warfare, military mountaineering and skiing, the use of drones in the conduct of special operations, and close-quarters combat in an urban environment.
Additionally, it was emphasized that bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in addition to the military domain, has also been confirmed at the humanitarian level. In this context, the assistance and support provided by Hungary to our country in dealing with wildfires were highlighted, as well as the transport and medical care of those injured in the fire in Kochani, which occurred in March of this year.
The Macedonian delegation in Hungary is led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikolovski, and today’s working visit was conducted with the aim of strengthening mutual cooperation, particularly in the fields of defence and security, as well as economic relations.
As part of the official activities, Ministers Misajlovski and Nikolovski held meetings with the Chief National Security Advisor, Marcel Bíró, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of National Economy responsible for economic development and national financial services, Máté Lóga. Additionally, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Tamás Varga. The Director of the General Staff of the Army, Brigadier General Orce Jordev was part of the Macedonian delegation, representing the Army.
