On 29 January, 2026, a military ceremony was held at the “N.H Strasho Pinjur” barracks in Petrovec to mark the Day of the Training Flight Squadron, part of the Air Force VING, as well as the 30th anniversary of its formation.
In his address, the Commander of the Training Flight Squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Boris Nastovski, emphasized that the jubilee represents confirmation of the continuity and strategic orientation of the unit in creating future military pilots. He highlighted that a clear vision and well defined direction are crucial for further progress, stressing that, as in aviation, “no wind is favorable if the direction is unknown,” noting that the Squadron’s direction is focused on modernization, continuity of training, and long-term operational readiness. He also stressed that despite constant technological advancement, the heart of the unit is not the equipment but the people, pointing out that professionalism, discipline, and dedication of the personnel are key to maintaining high standards and readiness.
The Deputy Commander of the AF VING, Colonel Igor Chkorov addressed those present, stating that the Training Flight Squadron represents one of the most modern and representative units in the Army today. He emphasized that the capabilities of the unit are highly rated by foreign partners and that, in certain segments they meet and even exceed NATO standards. He further highlighted that the ultimate goal is full operational functionality of the Squadron in support of the Army and NATO cooperation.
At the end of the ceremony, congratulatory messages were read and incentive measures were awarded to distinguished members of the Training Flight Squadron, in recognition of their professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the execution of the assigned tasks.
By marking this significant jubilee, the Training Flight Squadron once again reaffirmed its role as a key factor in the development of air capabilities, focused on the future, interoperability, and continuous support of the security objectives of the Army and the NATO Alliance.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Operations Command, the 1st Infantry Brigade, the Air Force VING, and the Training and Flight Squadron.
