Today, October 16th, at the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo, for the second time the Joint Operations Command marked the day of the unit with a military ceremony.
By decision of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Gjorge Ivanov, 17th of October is designated as a day of the Joint Operations Command, as a memorial marking in accordance with the traditions of the significant historical events upon which traditions of the Macedonian Army are based.
On October 17th, 1878, in the village of Kresna was established the headquarters of the Macedonian Uprising (in Macedonian historiography known as Kresna Uprising), the actual day when the uprising took place.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Zoran Jolevski, Chief of ARM General Staff LTC General Metodija Velichkovski, Deputy Chief of ARM General Major Muhamet Racaj, Director of ARM General Staff General Major Dimche Petrovski, commanders of commands and units of the Army, retired generals, former commanders of the Joint Operations Command and other guests.
At the ceremony, the Commander of Joint Operations Command Brigadier General Vasko Gjurchinovski had a speech, and expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of this Command, which for all its members means a further responsibility to meet future objectives.

On this occasion, members of the Joint Operations Command were awarded certificates and other incentives.
Joint Operations Command, as an operational level command, has existed since the beginning of the formation of the Army as an Army Corps. In 2000 it was transformed into the 1st Army Corps, and in 2002 it was renamed into the command of ground troops. In 2005 it was restructured in accordance with NATO standards in its current title.
