On June 14, 2025, at the “Jernej Molan” barracks in Cerklje, Republic of Slovenia, the 12th international military exercise Adriatic Strike 2025 was officially launched. This exercise represents one of the key events for enhancing interoperability and the capabilities of the air forces of NATO member states and partner countries.
The official opening ceremony was held with full military honors, in the presence of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, as well as representatives from participating countries. The exercise was formally opened by Colonel Janez Gaube, Commander of the Slovenian Air Force and Air Defence, and Director of the exercise.
Throughout the exercise, which will take place from June 14 to 24, 2025, around 800 personnel from the armed forces of NATO member states and partner countries will take part. A wide range of military aviation assets, including aircraft and helicopters, will be deployed to execute advanced close air support scenarios and integrated joint operations.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia is an active participant in the exercise. During the preparation phase, a member of the Air Force VING was engaged in the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) in the role of JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller). Additionally, during the exercise, another member of the AF VING will be engaged in the TOC, while two AF VING personnel will participate in the Close Air Support Simulation Center in the role of pilots.
The exercise Adriatic Strike represents a significant contribution to the advancement of joint operational capabilities and is of particular importance for building trust, strengthening partnerships, and maintaining security in the Euro-Atlantic region.
