The Engineer Battalion (EngBn), withing the Operations Command, repaired the road infrastructure on existing forest roads in the Maleshevo region, in the period from 29.09. to 10.10.2022. On the request of the municipality of Berovo to the Ministry of Defense and the Army, the Engineer Battalion responded and helped the municipality with its own resources.
Experts from the headquarters and the subordinate units of the Engineer Battalion first conducted a reconnaissance on the terrain in order to define the activities for the needs of the municipality and to organize the work in terrain conditions. The Engineer Battalion, with its own resources carried out breaking out, widening and construction of drainage channels on the existing forest road from Blen – Kukuta – Pecov chukar with a total length of 5.2 km and a width of 3.0 to 5.0 meters. For this purpose, two specialized engineering machines, a motor vehicle – a towing rig for engineering machines and the required number of personnel were hired.
With this mutual activity of the Army and the municipality of Berovo, accessibility to forest roads was provided.
The reconstruction site was visited by the Engineer Battalion Chief of Staff from the Army, the mayor of the municipality of Berovo, Mr. Zvonko Pekevski from the municipality of Berovo and the commander of the Firefighting Territorial Unit.
