On the basis of the Training Plan in the Medical Training Department (MTD) for 2023, as well as the cooperation with the Medical Training Center in the Swiss Confederation, the Tactical Combat Casualty Care Course was carried out in the barracks Ilinden in the period from May 2 to 5.
At the course, which was carried out in accordance with the program of the Swiss center SWISSINT (Swiss International Command) and monitored by instructors from the Swiss Confederation, the lecturers were instructors from the Medical Training Department and the Reconnaissance Intelligence Battalion, and the demonstrators were representatives of the Special Forces Battalion.
The aim of the course was to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the treatment of life-threatening injuries on the battlefield, as well as rapid extraction and transport of the casualties. At the same time, several topics were discussed and practiced, such as: tactical assessment of the incident and casualties, control of massive bleeding, patient extraction techniques, ensuring the free flow of air in the airways, prevention and treatment of shock and bleeding, assessment of head and nervous system injuries, treatment of eye injuries, burns, fractures, hypothermia, pain, infection.
The training was carried out through working points of demonstration and practical exercises, after which an exercise was performed in which the acquired knowledge and skills were applied. The participants of the course – paramedics from the Army units – received internationally recognized certificates, verified by NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Technicians).
