Today, the European Union (EU) Military Adviser Colonel Aleš Mynařík visited the Engineers Battalion (EngrBn) from the 1st Infantry Brigade (1IBde) at the military barracks Chojlija in Petrovec. He was accompanied by the EU Political Adviser to the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Hristo Tonchev.
The Deputy Commander of the 1IBde Colonel Stevan Naumoski and the Commander of the EngrBn Lieutenant Colonel Laste Gjorgiev with the key personnel of the EngrBn welcomed the guests.
The guests were briefed on the priorities and assignments of the EngrBn which they should accomplish. Additionally, they were informed about the degree of equipping and readiness of the declared platoon within the Light Infantry Battle Group (LIBG).
The newly acquired engineering machines were displayed, which were supplied through the European Peace Facility (EPF), such as dozer LIEBHERR and combined engineering machine HIDROMEK.
The guests expressed their satisfaction from their visit to the EngrBn. Colonel Aleš Mynařík promised to look into expediting of the supply process of the rest of the equipment for the EngrBn, which should be provided by the EPF in the upcoming period.
The EPF assistance will strengthen the capacities of the EngrBn and the Army when participating in operations and missions within the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy and in other international missions in the upcoming period.
The approval of the European Peace Facility (EPF) is intended to equip and modernize the Army in order to reach set capacity goals, which will continue in accordance with the Long-term Plan for Developing Defense Capabilities (LPDDC) 2023-2032.
