From 21 January to 11 February 2025, an Engineer Platoon from the Engineers Battalion (EBn) of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1IBde), which is part of the Light Infantry Battlegroup (LIBG), participated in the international joint exercise Combined Resolve 25-1 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Federal Republic of Germany.
In addition to members of our Army, the exercise included over 4,000 participants from the Armed Forces (AF) of the United States and 15 NATO allies and partner nations, led by the U.S. Army’s 7th Training Command. The exercise aimed to prepare U.S. brigade combat teams, including the EBn, as well as NATO allies and partners, to support NATO deterrence initiatives, to develop interoperability, and to enhance synchronization and coordination with other participating member states.
Of particular importance for the future development of engineer units is their ability and readiness to conduct operations in complex combat environments, assess interoperability levels, and apply NATO Standardization Agreements (STANAGs), which were implemented during the exercise with NATO and partner countries.
The personnel from the Engrineers Battalion once again demonstrated a high level of training and readiness to work alongside our allies. Assigned tasks were executed promptly and professionally, meeting required standards and adhering to the exercise scenario. For their engagement, members of the EBn were awarded a certificate for participation in the exercise.
On the Distinguished Visitors Day of the exercise, a delegation from the Army attended, including the commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, accompanied by the commander of the EBn, Lieutenant Colonel Laste Gjorgjiev.
