Mission and Tasks

Mission:
It mission is breeding and training of dogs for various purposes, as well as, training of instructors and soldiers for dog guidance, for the needs of the Army.
Tasks:
- Breeding, reproducing, care and feeding of the dogs;
- Develops plans and programs and conducts dog training for various purposes;
- Conducts dog training for various purposes (guard, protecting and special task dogs);
- Provides instructors’ professional development and training-dog guides for different purposes;
- Conducts re-training of dogs by the units of the Army;
- Trains dog guides soldiers.

History
- In 2009, with the help of USA donation, the Canine Training Center was completely renovated.
- Since 2006 the DTC is a part of the Training Command in Veles, located at the QDU base, at barracks „Gjorche Petrov“ in Skopje;
- In January 1995 the Centre was filled with dogs from different breeds;
- In 1994 the Center started work at barracks „Gjorche Petrov“ in Skopje;
- In 1993, with a resolution brought by the government of R Macedonia and the MOD, Dog Training Centre (DTC) was established at Erebino;
The Centre has 102 dogs of different breeds, German shepherd, Belgium shepherd, Sharplaninski shepherd, Retrievers and Rottweiler.
Training at the Canine Training Center is realized through the following courses:
- Guard dogs training course;
- Patrol dogs training course;
- Tracking dogs training course:
– Training of dogs for tracing explosive devices;
– Training of dogs for tracing mines (partially trained, there is no testing ground for final tests);
– Training of dogs for tracing people in natural disasters (initial phase).
- Training Courses for Dog guides (four times a year).
