Major General Azim Nuredin
Major General Azim Nuredin was born in 1969 in the village of Drevenik near Bitola, North Macedonia. He began his military education at the Military High School in Belgrade and continued at the Military Academy for Land Forces in Belgrade. He completed his senior year at the Military Academy “General Mihajlo Apostolski” in Skopje. After graduating from the Military Academy, he started his military career as a platoon commander in the Strumica Garrison following the establishment of the Army.
He has held various command and staff positions throughout his career, including serving as the Adjutant to the Army’s Supreme Commander. On May 18, 2018, the President appointed him the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Army by decree.
General Nuredin furthered his education through master’s studies at the Command and Staff Academy within the Military Academy “General Mihajlo Apostolski” in Skopje and at the National Defense School within the Military Academy and Armed Forces Command in Istanbul, Türkiye. He has completed numerous training courses on NATO, English and Turkish languages, public relations, state border security, and more.
He has participated in various national and international defense and security conferences and seminars, including military exercises with the Special Forces and other Armed Forces. In 2014, he served as a senior representative in the ISAF peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. From 2019 to 2021, General Nuredin led the Military Accession and Integration process of the Republic of North Macedonia into NATO.
Throughout his career, General Nuredin has received numerous awards and commendations. He is fluent in English and Turkish.
He is married and has two children.
