Mission
Performs expert works needed for the preparation of analysis by providing advice and proposals in the NATO and EU domain, which are in favor of the military-political decisions making process, by the CHOD, DCHOD and Director of the General Staff of the Army. At the same time, it coordinates with NATO military missions (Brussels, Mons and Norfolk).
Tasks
Participates in the preparation of the proposal of the organization and formation of the Army;
Coordinate and follows the work of military missions in Brussels, Mons and Norfolk and other NATO and EU structures;
Coordinates and organizes cooperation with other institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia in the NATO and EU context;
Gives expert support to organizational units of the Army and if necessary co-organize activities in the domain of NATO and EU;
Participates in planning, preparation and analysis in the field of cooperation with NATO and the EU;
Prepares expert analysis from the NATO and EU domain;
Provides appropriate and comprehensive advice and suggestions in support of the military-political decisions making process, by the CHOD, DCHOD and Director of the General Staff of the Army;
Holds an insight into the incoming NATO and EU documents (written and electronic) by fields and categories and prepares suggestions for their distribution;
Collects and updates data and submits appropriate reports;
Prepares briefings and projects in the NATO and EU domain;
Plans, organizes and holds NATO and EU conferences, where the CHOD, DCHOD and Director of the General Staff of the Army are directly involved.
Chief
Colonel Hristijan Gjorgjov
Colonel Hristijan Gjorgjov was born in 1977 in Kochani. After graduating from the “General Mihailo Apostolski” Military Academy in 2000, he began his military career as an infantry officer in the garrison Kumanovo. During his military career, he performed command and staff duties at tactical, operational and strategic level. Since February 2023, he has been appointed as the Head of the Department for NATO and EU in the General Staff of the Army.
He has attended many courses and seminars on various topics in his military career, both in-country and abroad. In addition, he participated in the operational part of the exercises for evaluation of declared units in the Army. He also participated in the international exercises Viking 08 and 14 in Sweden. In the period from 2009-2010, he was assigned to duty as a staff officer in the command of UNIFIL in Lebanon.
To enhance his military education, he completed the Command and Staff Academy at the Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia, USA in the 2016-2017 academic year. During his military career, he has received several awards and decorations, among which the most significant are: Medal for participation in a UN Peacekeeping Mission, Medal for Special Merits by the Lebanese Armed Forces, Silver and Bronze badges from the Chief of GS of the Army, Certificate of Commendation and award leave from the Minister of Defense. He is proficient in English. Married, father of two children.
